Milton Friedman, one of the few true intellectual giants of economics and a personal hero of mine (I found his book "Capitalism and Freedom" an eye-opener), has passed away at the age of 94; coming just days after the all-too peaceful passing of P.W. Botha, this is a good reminder that it isn't only the monsters who live to a ripe old age. I haven't yet found an obituary which does the man justice, but until I do run across such an article, this New York Times piece seems to be about as comprehensive as it currently gets.
PS: The Financial Times article by Samuel Brittan does a decent job of putting Friedman's legacy into perspective. If you're looking for the left-wing idiot's take on the man, this pabulum will be hard to beat.
