Wikipedia is Broken

As I've been maintaining for ages now, Wikipedia's editing process is seriously broken, and as an exemplar of everything that is wrong with this encyclopedia, the latest controversy surrounding the "Liancourt Rocks" article is hard to beat. Currently a search for "Liancourt Rocks" or "Takeshima" on Wikipedia redirects you to "Dokdo", which is nothing but a reflection of the fanaticism of the Koreans who go about bowdlerizing or deleting anything which doesn't conform to their idealized perception of Korea's past and present, but now an effort is afoot to get the article renamed to what such a disputed territory ought to have been called from the beginning, leading the Chosun Ilbo to mobilize the hoards of petty-nationalistic Korean netizens to flood the voting currently underway at Wikipedia itself. As hardly anyone outside of Korea actually gives a sh*t about these insignificant rocks, expect the Chosun/naver/empas/daum onslaught to carry the day.

For highly technical subjects which are beyond the intellectual reach of the masses and to which no notable controversies are attached, Wikipedia can be a useful reference (though even the value of these is damaged by clumsy writing more often than not). For all the other things people are most interested in consulting an encyclopedia about, Wikipedia's articles are essentially what you get when the axe-grinders with limitless time and numbers get their way: a biased, worthless mish-mash of lies, half-truths and inflammatory irrelevancies tied together by absurdly bad grammar: I would never trust Wikipedia on anything written about Korea - if it said the capital of South Korea was Seoul I'd be inclined to doubt it, given the shamelessness with which Wikipedia's Korean partisans distort even the most established truths to their liking - nor would I trust it on matters related to race or IQ, as the most vigilant editors in all these areas are standout examples of masses of racist, agenda-driven fools and crackpots eager to silence anything which strikes a dissonant note to their naziesque propaganda. Wikipedia's biggest accomplishment is to establish beyond all doubt that knowledge cannot be decided either by majority voting or sheer fervor.

I remember a link to a hagiography about Richard Lynn. The title called him a "Fearless Champion of Truth" and in the entry it gave him the appellation "pillar of rectitude". Sarcastic
