For my money, I have to say that David Foster Wallace is the single most creative young(ish) writer active today. Not only was Infinite Jest exciting in a way that few writers aspire to any longer, but his Brief Interviews with Hideous Men,
though less spectacular in style, was also a fine effort. Dave Eggers
hardly stands comparison with DFW, in my opinion, though I have enjoyed
Eggers' work with McSweeney's.
